Aims & Scope
The Journal of Comparative and International Higher Education (JCIHE) is an open access, independent, and peer-reviewed, international, and multi-disciplinary journal designed for advancing the field of comparative and international higher education. We will never charge authors to publish or charge readers for access.
The objective and purpose of the JCIHE is to build a community of researchers from throughout the world who are undertaking comparative and international projects on higher education. The JCIHE is a forum for reflective and critical thinking on comparative and international higher education. JCIHE aims to showcase new, critical, and diverse research that uses rigorous methodology that focuses on theory, policy, practice, critical analysis, and development analysis of issues that influence higher education. JCIHE has as its core principles: a) comparative research; b) international higher education research; c) engagement with theory; and d) diverse voices in terms of authorship from Global Majority/Global South regions. The goal is to push the current boundaries of what we think we know about comparative and international higher education.
Submissions must address higher education found in a variety of institutions such as technical/vocational institutions and colleges, community colleges, further education colleges, TAFE, universities of applied sciences and universities. The institutions can reside in either public or private contexts. Submissions must focus on scholarships that examine higher education in one or more countries or regions of the world. Submissions can also focus on the different fields of International Education scholarship, including education abroad, international students, internationalization of curriculum, internationalization at home, and internationalization for society.
JCIHE is overseen by a senior editorial board, assisted by an International Advisory Board, and a Board of Regional Editors who are international scholars with a wide range of expertise in comparative and international higher education.
