Abstract
This dissertation uses China's Industrial Survey data to explore the degrees and causes of geographical concentration of China's manufacturing industries. The combination indices provide a more sophisticated framework in measuring degree of manufacturing concentration. In addition, determinants of manufacturing concentration are also explored by a series of econometric models. The results show state capital and state subsidies all have significant impact on geographical concentrations of China's manufacturing activities.
