Abstract
This study examined changes in the test score gaps in the main NAEP eighth grade assessments in mathematics and reading over the fourteen-year period, 2003 to 2017. The test score gaps were reported for public school students for the nation. In 2003 the black-white test score gap in mathematics was 35; in 2017 the test score gap was 32, a decrease of three points. For reading in 2003 the test score gap was 26; in 2017 the test score gap was also 26. Thus, there was no change int he reading test score gap over the fourteen-year period.
