This file is used to describe the appendices associated with the MS thesis "Examining valve shape variation in the freshwater diatom genus Eunotia over time and space" written by Jordan Bishop at the University of Connecticut, 2016, deposited at the University of Connecticut Digital Commons. READ_ME File for Appendices Appendix_1.xlsx is a spreadsheet file containing the raw valve measurements and associated collection data available on record for each specimen used within the study. For original author images, the naming convention is standardized to reflect specimen origin, i.e. source of photograph and a unique number designation. Appendix_2.tps is the file used within the morphometrics analysis. It contains the landmark data for the scored images for all specimens within the study. Appendix_3.csv is a counterpart to Appendix_2.tps, know as a "slider" file. The values indicate which landmarks are denoted as permanent, or non sliding, landmarks and those that are semi-permanent, or sliding, landmarks. Within the study, these files were used in tandem to conduct a semi-landmark geometric morphometrics analysis using landmark data superimposed over images(.tps file). These landmarks are then differentiated between permanent and semi-permanent landmarks through a slider file (.csv file).
